My biological mother was 16 years old when she gave birth to me. She placed me for adoption. I was adopted in a closed adoption by loving adoptive parents and had a fantastic childhood.
I grew up always knowing that I was adopted. I don't remember when or how I was told I had been adopted; it was just something I remember always having known.
When I was pregnant with my third biological child, I co-founded an adoption agency. After I began working with birth mothers, I started wondering more about my own biological family. My third child was diagnosed with a heart murmur, and that was when I decided to begin the process of reunification.
I reunited with my biological mother and my two biological brothers in 2007.
